About this release
Five years in the making, Lotus Rising - आशिक अली finds Subb-an exploring his South Asian heritage through electronic production, live instrumentation and a reflective approach to composition. Released on Phonica Records Special Editions, the 11-track album opens a quieter side of his work.
Contributors include sitar player Akash Parekar, vocalists Kate Fleur Young and Anushree Datar, bassist Luke Weaver and drummer Jonny Cade. Their performances bring sitar, voice, bass and drums into a record shaped around growth, reconnection and transformation.
