Superfan - My Piledriver Heart

Superfan’s My Piledriver Heart pairs deeply tuned acoustic guitar with cello, taking Kali Priya Flanagan’s songwriting into a more open, experimental corner of indie rock. Working with cellist Omeed Almassi and producer Hudson Pollock, the Brooklyn musician recorded much of the album live. The strings carry real weight here, moving between intimate folk passages, chamber music and noisier pop arrangements.

Released on AD 93, the record is Flanagan’s first outside the deal signed at fourteen. Heartbreak and independence run through the songs, but there’s warmth alongside the melancholy. Tracks including ‘In The Gold Room’, ‘Miss W Jones’ and ‘Picture Of Return’ sit within a ten-song LP that gives this acoustic guitar and cello partnership room to develop.
