About this release
Rush Hour pairs two recordings from Richard Hewson’s archive on Rising Star / Deep Song. Rising Star began as a 1984 Debbie Sharp vocal single before Hewson reshaped it into the percussive Cosmix, using a Bel Delay effects unit as part of his studio experiments. Deep Song reaches back to the late-1970s Richard Hewson Orchestra period. Hewson assembled the recording at home before adding strings and vocals, drawing inspiration from Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue. Originally released as a B-side under an alias in 1979, it offers an earlier perspective on the studio approach associated with The RAH Band.
