Tony Allen's Black Voices brings his unmistakable Afrobeat drumming into the spare, electronic world of producer Doctor L. First released in 1999, the album pairs loose, deeply rhythmic playing with jazz-funk instrumentation and vocal contributions from members of Parliament-Funkadelic.

Asiko, Get Together and the title track show how much movement Allen can put into a groove without crowding it. The later sides open that material out through the In A Silent and We Are We Play mixes, with Ariya's Psychedelic Juju Mix adding a further dancefloor turn. This Comet Records reissue presents remastered material across two LPs, including the bonus Ariya mix.
