About this release
Compiled by Charles Bals for Smiling C, Neon Castle explores the meeting point between early-1980s folk-rock, soft rock and atmospheric pop. Female vocals, slide guitar, fretless bass and drum machines give the selections a shared sense of space, while each song keeps its own melodic character. The ten-track vinyl programme opens with Judie Tzuke’s Shoot From The Heart and includes Sally Townes, Suse Millemann, Tessa Stivar and two recordings by Susan Smith. Mastered by Peter Beckmann at Technology Works, the compilation comes in a holographic silver-mirrored die-cut sleeve with an inner sleeve and staircase sticker.
