About this release
Inner Circle Vol. 1 starts a Chuwanaga series built around artists close to the label. J. Koen opens with We All Got To Feel, pairing deep house chords and melodic detail with a warm bassline. Kaffe Crème's Sunny California develops through jazz-inflected harmonies and layered percussion. On the reverse, Milk & Honey draw on Chicago house with It's A Feeling (House Music), using a looping bassline and steady drums to hold the arrangement together. Saint-James and KX9000 close with The Gatekeeper, bringing a more syncopated, broken beat feel into the selection. The four tracks connect soulful house with the label's broader interest in musicality and groove.
