About this release
Hot Mule brings together eight recordings by Baka Beyond and Outback, tracing Martin Cradick’s work between 1991 and 2014. Compiled by Pol Valls, the selection connects hypnotic didgeridoo, Baka polyphonic singing, African percussion and psychedelic guitar with an instinct for dancefloor rhythm.
The compilation moves from the layered vocals and electronic percussion of ‘Booma Lena’ to Outback’s ‘What Can I Say’, where didgeridoo and house-influenced piano meet. Presented as a limited double LP with a tip-on sleeve and liner notes, it explores the more leftfield corners of both groups’ catalogues.
