About this release
Tokyo Riddim Vol. 2 traces the electronic and experimental edges of Japanese reggae pop across 1979–1986. Compiled by Kay Suzuki for Time Capsule, its eight selections connect dub production, city pop and new wave through singers and musicians including Yosui Inoue, Juicy Fruits and Kay Ishiguro. Teresa Noda’s Tropical Love and Yellow Moon frame the programme, while Tomoko Aran’s Kanashiki Vaudevillian appears as a vinyl-only selection. Risa Minami and Yuki Nakayamate add further perspectives on the meeting of Japanese pop and Jamaican rhythm. The LP includes English and Japanese liner notes, with remastering and cutting by Mike Hillier at Metropolis Studios.
