About this release
Mikkou is Yoshiko Sai’s second album, originally released by Black Records in 1976. Produced by arranger Isamu Haruna, it combines Sai’s folk songwriting and understated vocals with funk-informed arrangements, featuring guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka. The nine-track programme moves from Theme ～ Kaasama No Uta through Kagami Jigoku and Kinu No Michi to the closing title track. This Wewantsounds reissue uses audio newly remastered from the original tapes by Coloursound Studio in Paris. It reproduces the original artwork and includes an obi and a four-page insert with new liner notes by Hashim Kotaro Bharoocha, based on an interview with Sai.
