The Polish composer, producer, pianist, and singer Hania Rani recorded her latest album Non Fiction at Abbey Road with a 45-piece orchestra of Manchester Collective led by Rakhi Singh, conducted by Hugh Tieppo-Brunt, it features special guest performances by Jack Wyllie (Portico Quartet, Paradise Cinema) on soprano saxophone and Valentina Magaletti (Moin, Vanishing Twin) on drums and percussion. After the electronic elements on her previous album Ghosts, she now takes a symphonic route, bridging her love for experimentation with her classical training.

"NON FICTION is the most complex body of work in my career, opening a new, curious chapter in my sonic exploration. It is based entirely on the sound of acoustic instruments and depends on audio processing and effects using analogue tape machines. Recorded by John Barnett and Greg Freeman, mixed by Greg Freeman and mastered by Zino Mikorey.. It was composed partially in response to the discovery in 2020 of the compositions of a young music prodigy, Josima Feldschuh, written during the horrors of World War II in the Warsaw Ghetto. Moved by the young girl’s story, I chose to examine it through the lens of ongoing horrors in both Ukraine and Gaza, how we observe them through digital technology and how this new proximity informs the way we respond to the violence. The album cover features artwork by British artist - Nat Faulkner and design by Atlas Studio. "
