About this release
Danny Ward expands his Balaphonic project with live percussion, Brazilian rhythms and a cast of guest musicians on Organic Matters. Dew Drops layers piano, xylophone and balafon over a samba shuffle, while Switch revisits Ward’s earlier composition in gentle 7/4 time with Flora Purim and Diana Moreira-Purim. Flamenco-inspired guitar shapes Balaventurers, followed by Katya Gabeli’s violin on Life of Strings. Boxfresh brings Afro-Cuban percussion to the foreground before Home closes with drifting piano and spacious chords. The arrangements draw together the project’s Balearic and jazz influences, keeping acoustic detail and collaboration at the centre.
