About this release
Mondo Love & Betrayal grew from Neil 'Nail' Tolliday and Henry Claude Scott's shared affection for 1980s synth-pop and dance-pop. Their first session together produced “Correspondence”, revealing a meeting point between Tolliday's electronic production and Scott's expressive falsetto. Over the following eighteen months, the pair developed that connection into a ten-song debut for NuNorthern Soul. Heartache, doubt, love and betrayal run through the writing, carried by colourful melodies, atmospheric chords and rhythms that draw on both New York club music and Britain's second summer of love. The album gives Scott's songwriting a more direct setting while allowing Tolliday to explore a different side of his musical influences.
