About this release
Great Doubt brings Astrid Sonne’s voice to the foreground of her third album, placing sparse lyrics among viola, beats, piano and electronic textures. The Danish composer uses the songs to pose questions about love and uncertainty, allowing the instrumental arrangements to carry as much meaning as the words. Almost builds around plucked viola, while Give My All reframes a Mariah Carey reference through string stabs and percussion. Guitar, cello and saxophone also enter the record, with contributors including Jasper Marsalis, Emma Barnaby and Ben Vince. This Escho vinyl LP presents the complete nine-track album, from Light And Heavy to Say You Love Me.
