About this release
Negro Swan is Devonté Hynes' fourth album as Blood Orange, written and produced by Hynes and released through Domino in 2018. Its songs explore Black identity, depression, queer experience and the possibility of hope, moving between R&B, soul, pop and spoken passages. Charcoal Baby and Jewelry sit within a wider sequence that includes Hope, Chewing Gum and Holy Will, with contributions from Tei Shi, Janet Mock, Ian Isiah and others. This WIGLP421 double-vinyl edition presents the album across four sides and includes the hidden vinyl track God Bless after Smoke. The full programme follows the record's shifts between songs, interludes and shorter instrumental passages.
