About this release
Ché Wax’s first volume pairs two reworks that connect psychedelic source material with electronic club rhythms. ‘Buzz’ revisits Shocking Blue’s ‘Love Buzz’, originally released on At Home in 1969, adding an acid-disco emphasis to its dramatic arrangement. ‘Raga’ draws on Charanjit Singh’s Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat, the 1982 recording that brought Indian raga forms into an electronic disco setting. The Ché version reshapes that material around an electro rhythm inspired by early-1980s New York. Presented one track per side, the 12-inch connects two different musical starting points through the project’s approach to reworking.
