About this release
Still Music and Jerome Derradji trace the foundations of Chicago house through Chip E's recordings from 1984–88. The first volume in a three-part archival series brings together early club cuts including Time To Jack, It's House and Like This.
Across two records, raw drum programming and stripped-back grooves capture the sound of a formative period in house music. Drum machines and tape edits are central to the collection, reflecting the music’s roots in Chicago’s South Side club circuit. The double LP includes archival material and liner notes by Jake Malooley, placing these recordings in the context of Chip E’s early work.
