About this release
Acid Jazz’s Spring Revisited series returns to Fatback Band with two new versions made using the original masters. Kenny Dope takes on the group’s 1976 Night Fever, retaining its soulful vocal and strings while building a stronger rhythmic framework around a looped percussion passage. A lifted tempo gives the mix extra dancefloor momentum without losing the original performance’s loose, improvised feel. On the reverse, DJ Spinna reshapes (Hey) I Feel Real Good for his Refreak version. Presented in the series’ Spring Revisited house bag, the record pairs two distinct approaches to the band’s disco and funk catalogue.
