About this release
Father’s Children’s “Hollywood Dreaming” returns with its original companion “Shine On” on this South Street Soul 7-inch. Both tracks come from the Washington, DC band’s 1979 Mercury album, produced by Wayne Henderson of The Crusaders. The A-side takes a relaxed soul approach, pairing the group’s vocals with a flowing groove. On the reverse, “Shine On” pushes further into funk and disco, with slap bass, harmonised voices and horn accents. This reissue preserves the two-track pairing of the original single, offering contrasting sides of the band’s late-1970s sound.
