About this release
Oliver Gallegos balances dancefloor rhythms with quieter ambient passages on ‘Memories You’ve Memorised’, his debut release for Rhythm Section International. Across five tracks, pitched-down jungle drums, sustained pads and strings draw on the atmosphere of nineties rave music. The title track combines Juno chords, arpeggiated church organ and eighties vocal samples, bringing the record’s melodic and rhythmic strands together. ‘Furious Glory’ and the brief ‘Over & Over’ complete the first side, with ‘Slingshot’ and ‘E With Me’ on the reverse. The sequence moves between momentum and reflection, using texture and harmony alongside its broken rhythms.
