About this release
Rob Gallagher and vocalist Valerie Etienne reunite Galliano with bassist Ernie McKone, drummer Crispin Taylor and keyboardist Ski Oakenfull on ‘Halfway Somewhere’. Saxophonist Jason Yarde and percussionist Crispin ‘Spry’ Robinson join the sessions, connecting the group’s acid-jazz roots to a wider contemporary jazz setting. ‘Circles Going Round The Sun’ reflects on the shared experience of dancing, while short interludes link songs including ‘Dancin’ Your Own Time’, ‘Jazz’ and ‘Of Peace’. The nineteen-track album moves between spoken passages, singing and ensemble grooves. This Brownswood edition presents the original programme across two black vinyl records in a gatefold sleeve.
