About this release
Gene Harris’s ‘Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong’ brings the pianist’s blues-and-gospel-rooted approach into a relaxed soul-jazz setting. Originally released on his 1974 album ‘Astral Signal’, the track later found another audience through London’s rare-groove scene. Selector Series pairs it with ‘Summer (The First Time)’ on this remastered 7-inch, giving each recording its own side. The release places Harris’s melodic playing within the meeting point of jazz, funk and soul that shaped this period of his work, presenting the two songs together in a compact single format.
