About this release
We're New Here reworks Gil Scott-Heron's 2010 album I'm New Here through Jamie xx's electronic production. Released in 2011, it places Scott-Heron's voice among shifting beats, samples and bass, moving between club rhythms and quieter passages. NY Is Killing Me and I'll Take Care Of U anchor the record, while short spoken interludes connect the songs and preserve the personal tone of the original recordings. The thirteen-track programme also includes Home, Running and My Cloud. This XL Recordings and Young Turks vinyl LP presents the album across two sides in a die-cut sleeve.
