About this release
Love Is Always On Your Mind pairs Gladys Knight & The Pips' extended Buddah recording with Bourgie Bourgie from their Columbia catalogue. The first side gives Knight's vocals room to develop within a sustained disco arrangement, running for more than ten minutes. The reverse presents the group's version of the Ashford & Simpson song Bourgie Bourgie, with a shorter but equally dancefloor-oriented approach. Together, the recordings connect two chapters of the group's work through their vocal performance and rhythmic arrangements. This DISCO115P 12-inch reissue uses audio mastered from the original tapes and gives each recording its own side.
