About this release
Jennifer Lara’s ‘We Can Make It Work’ brings her singing to a mid-1980s UK production from Uptempo, connecting lovers rock with the electronic sheen of boogie. Planets pairs the vocal recording with ‘We Can Make It Dub’ on this licensed 7-inch reissue. The two sides give different views of the same production, with Lara’s voice leading the A-side and the dub shifting attention towards the backing. The release revisits a UK recording by a singer closely associated with Jamaica’s Studio One.
