About this release
Louie Vega revisits John Davis & The Monster Orchestra's Bourgie, Bourgie, keeping the song's strings and Ashford & Simpson backing vocals at the centre of a longer club arrangement. The original recording appeared on Sam Records in 1979, with the song written by Ashford & Simpson. Vega's main mix gives the orchestral parts room to unfold over a house rhythm, while the Dance Ritual Dub offers an alternative treatment on the reverse. Released through Nurvous in 2016, this NUR23956 12-inch pairs both versions, connecting the original disco recording with Vega's approach to arranging music for the dancefloor.
