About this release
Choice Remixes 2008–2022 brings together four Kay Suzuki reworks for Time Capsule, connecting rhythms from Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, Senegal and Cuba. Gaoulé Mizik’s A Ka Titine opens with Suzuki’s Gwoka Dub, followed by the broken-beat approach of Broki’s Es Que Lo Es. Blackbush Orchestra’s Sortez, Les Filles! shifts towards Balearic house on the reverse, while Sunlightsquare’s Oyelo leaves the kick drum out to suggest a four-to-the-floor pulse through the remaining parts. The selection places Suzuki’s house and dub interests in conversation with each recording’s original percussion. This vinyl edition includes English and Japanese liner notes and remastering by Mike Hillier.
