About this release
Kyle Hall and Cory Champion meet at the intersection of deep house, jazz harmony and rhythmic syncopation on this Wild Oats twelve-inch. The Detroit producer and New Zealand drummer first crossed paths in Auckland in 2016, staying in touch through Champion's Borrowed CS and Clear Path Ensemble recordings. A later studio session at Dune Castle in Melbourne produced Acuna De Mar and Steppin', combining rich chords with a loose, tactile rhythmic approach. Both tracks were written and produced by Hall and Champion, with mastering by Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven. Each piece occupies a full side of the record.
