About this release
UK saxophonist Mark Millington introduces himself as a bandleader on Picture This, a six-track debut recorded in New York in early 2024. Five original compositions range from the rhythmic lift of ‘Matilda’s Dance’ to the ballad ‘Truth Be Told’, alongside a jazz reworking of Becky Hill’s ‘Overdrive’. Addison Frei plays piano, Jackson Potter contributes guitar and Yoshi Waki supplies bass, with guests Nick Walters on trumpet and Ruta Sipola on flute. Arranged by Kenny Shanker and produced and mixed by Adam Scrimshire, the album balances lively percussion with a strong melodic focus across its two-sided vinyl programme.
