About this release
Mia Moretti joins Crosstown Rebels with Safe with Me, a vocal collaboration featuring New Orleans soul singer Irma Thomas. Co-produced with Mark “Blakkat” Bell, the original draws together gospel, disco and house around Thomas’s commanding delivery. Moretti’s interest in vocal-led records gives the song its emotional centre, while the production keeps it connected to the dancefloor. On the reverse, Sweden’s Tiger Stripes offers a contrasting interpretation, adding layered synths and driving percussion to the arrangement. The two versions present the song from different production angles, pairing Moretti’s richly textured original with a more insistent remix.
