About this release
Nexus 21 pair an alternative version of “Self Hypnosis” with a live recording of “Silicon” on this Anorax 7-inch. Recorded in 1991, the tracks capture Mark Archer and Chris Peat’s electronic work as their focus was shifting towards Altern 8. The “Self Hypnosis” version differs from the original release, revealing a more rave-oriented side of their sound. “Silicon” was recorded at London’s Brain club in April 1991, bringing bleep and clonk textures into a live setting. Both recordings later appeared in the Mind Machines archive project; this single gathers the two versions in a 300-copy edition.
