About this release
If The 3rd World War Is A Must brings together Ruffy & Tuffy's vocal performance and a dub version of the same recording. The twins recorded the song in 1982 at Channel One and Tuff Gong, with Earl 'Wire' Lindo and Tyrone Downie contributing keyboards and vocoder. First released in 1984, the track combines reggae rhythm with electronic textures, while its lyrics consider war and technology. Shella Records' reissue draws on both the original 12-inch and the master tapes to assemble the vocal and dub cuts. The result documents the record's distinctive meeting of rub-a-dub and electronic production.
