About this release
ripples is the debut solo album by silhouwaves, the project of Turkish multi-instrumentalist and producer Bora Dayanıklı. Built around looping guitars, effects pedals, drum samples and poetic vocals, the record draws on 1970s krautrock, progressive rock and psychedelia. Its DIY approach combines repeating instrumental patterns with contemporary vocal production, moving through nine pieces from ‘ascension’ to ‘prologue to infinity’. The extended ‘faraway dance’ opens the second side, giving the album space to stretch beyond its shorter song forms. Yui Kimijima mixed and mastered the record, with artwork by Timothee Boubay.
