About this release
I Need You Now brings Sinnamon's 1983 New York recording together with The Fierce Reprise and an A Capella Edit. The main version combines a funk bass line, bright chords and synthesizer strings with vocals from Sinnamon and guest Bernard Fowler of the Peech Boys. The Fierce Reprise takes the reverse towards a more spacious dub arrangement, using reversed cymbals, tape-delayed vocals and synthesizer echoes. The A Capella Edit follows, isolating the voices from the instrumental backing. This remastered Jive reissue presents the three versions on one twelve-inch, connecting early-1980s boogie with the stripped-back rhythmic approach that fed into house.
