About this release
The Kyoto Connection builds The Flower, The Bird And The Mountain from field recordings made around Kyoto by musician and sound designer Masafumi Komatsu. Working in Buenos Aires, Facundo Arena adds synthesizers, samples and restrained rhythms, drawing on Japanese environmental music and minimalist composition. Across twelve pieces, the recordings become the foundation for imagined landscapes rather than a straightforward travel diary. “Memories From Japan”, the three “Mindscape” pieces and the two-part title composition connect the album’s quieter environments with its melodic details. Temples Of Jura presents the complete programme on 180g vinyl, with sleeve design by Bradley Pinkerton.
