Richard Anthony Hewson’s RAH Band blends jazz-funk, synthesizer pop and cosmic lounge on Going Up, originally released in 1983. ‘Messages From The Stars’ opens in its album mix, placing its distinctive vocal and electronic groove alongside songs such as ‘Perfumed Garden’, ‘Winter Love’ and ‘Riding On A Fantasy’. Drum machines, synthesizers and off-centre arrangements give the album a homemade studio character, moving between instrumentals and vocal-led pieces. The set reflects Hewson’s work as an arranger and multi-instrumentalist, bringing different sides of his production into a connected sequence. This Shock Music edition presents the album restored and remastered.
