About this release
The Reflex pairs two revisions on the fourth Flex7 release, bringing funk, soul and disco material into a compact 7 inch format. Without Ur Luv builds around a silky vocal, call-and-response phrases and bright synth lines, with the rhythm kept firmly in focus. Xpress Urselves takes the flip, setting vocal cries, horns and bass against busy drums. Both arrangements retain the character of their source songs while giving the instrumental details room to stand out. The two sides offer contrasting moods within the same rhythm-led approach, with each presented as a Reflex Revision.
