About this release
Todd Edwards records as The Sample Choir on Feelin’ Lonely, a four-track EP originally issued by Nervous Records in 1994. Chopped vocal samples, elastic bass lines and sharply placed percussion give the record its rhythmic identity, connecting New York house production with a sound that would resonate in the developing UK garage scene. The title track and ‘Love Will Make Things Better’ share the A-side, with ‘The Praise (God in His Hand)’ and ‘Break Smooth’ on the reverse. Together, the tracks offer an early example of Edwards’s approach to making voices part of the rhythm.
