Selector Series pairs two sides of The Vibrations on this seven-inch reissue. Originally released in 1974, ‘Shake It Up’ later found an audience in London’s warehouse parties and rare groove scene during the mid-1980s. Co-written by Bunny Sigler and arranged by Vince Montana, it combines a distinctive percussion introduction with sweeping strings and a measured modern soul groove. The reverse offers a gentler contrast in ‘Make It Last’, written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed. Together, the two songs connect the group’s dancefloor appeal with a more restrained, melodic side of their soul recordings.
