About this release
Early Works Vol. 2 brings together recordings from ATA’s formative years with discoveries from its later studio archive. The compilation traces the Leeds label’s approach to soul, funk and jazz through ten cuts, including Fuzzy Jones’ vocals with The Harmony Society and The Disarrays. Joe Tatton’s Bang Bang Boogaloo and The Sorcerers’ In Pursuit Of Shai Hulud sit alongside instrumental pieces from The Magnificent Tape Band. Earl Dawkins joins The Lewis Express on Secret Universe, while The Mandatory Eight contribute The Hardest Day. It is a varied view of the musicians and recording ideas that shaped ATA’s sound.
