About this release
Soul Jazz Records traces underground American punk between 1973 and 1980 on ‘Punk 45: Kill The Hippies! Kill Yourself! The American Nation Destroys Its Young’. The twenty-one selections connect scenes in Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, Akron, New Orleans and Philadelphia, moving between raw punk, proto-punk and more experimental approaches. The Urinals, electric eels, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Tuxedomoon, Theoretical Girls and Crash Course In Science appear alongside The Pagans and The Heartbreakers. This remastered orange double-vinyl edition includes biographies, photographs and original record artwork, documenting the bands and independent singles behind the collection.
