About this release
The Lowdown traces Catawba Records’ disco and soul catalogue through nine selections, from Maurice Starr’s ‘You And Me’ to Sandy Kerr’s ‘Thug Rock’. Founded by Richard Mack, who worked in promotions for CBS Records, the label brought together established performers and emerging dance acts during the early 1980s. Eleanor Grant appears on both sides, alongside Leon Moses, Dutch Robinson and Silk. The reverse includes Jackie Moore and Wilson Pickett’s duet in a Satril 12-inch edit, plus The Fantastic Aleems with Leroy Burgess. This orange-vinyl LP combines songs, edits and dub material in a gatefold sleeve containing label history.
Format: Orange vinyl LP, gatefold sleeve
