About this release
South Street International reissues Vick Lavender's The L.O.V.E. Song, originally released on his Sophisticado Recordings label. Subtitled From Chicago To New York, the track brings Rhodes chords, fluid percussion and vocal refrains into a spacious deep-house groove. Lavender's background in Strictly Jaz Unit and his interest in jazz fusion and R&B shape the arrangement's musical detail. The release pairs the Main Mix with The Sophisticado Reloaded Mix, giving two extended perspectives on the same composition. Remastered by The Bakehouse, the 12 inch returns both versions to vinyl with their focus on harmony, rhythm and soulful vocal texture intact.
