About this release
Asa Tone’s Mutualkind brings Melati ESP, Tristan Arp and Kaazi together across Indonesia, Mexico City, Berlin and New York. The album builds a shared musical language from voices, electronic percussion and ideas passed between the three musicians.
Vocal fragments become rhythmic material alongside modular synthesis, FM textures and electronic drums. Balinese percussionist Putu Septa adds kendang to two tracks, while pieces including ‘Second Language’ and ‘Watertalk’ retain the spontaneity of single-take sessions. Released by Music From Memory.
