Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl b/w Four 'n Twenty

Cookin’ On 3 Burners return This Girl to seven-inch vinyl, pairing Kylie Auldist’s vocal performance with the instrumental Four ’N Twenty. First released by Freestyle in 2009, the A-side features original guitarist Lance Ferguson alongside the trio’s Hammond-led sound. Auldist’s singing gives the song its melodic centre, with the band’s compact arrangement leaving room for the vocal to carry. The reverse puts organ, twanging guitar and crisp drum breaks in the foreground, showing the group’s tougher funk side. This Soul Messin’ reissue brings the original song and its instrumental partner together in the band’s label sleeve.
