About this release
Life On Mars and The Sweetest Pain show contrasting sides of Dexter Wansel's work for Philadelphia International Records. The A-side comes from his 1976 debut album, combining an active rhythm section with jazz-inflected keyboards and a more expansive instrumental arrangement. The Sweetest Pain, recorded later in the decade, offers a gentler soul counterpart with a more relaxed pace. The pairing places the rhythmic detail of the first recording alongside the melodic emphasis of the second. This remastered 12-inch reissue is pressed on 180g vinyl and gives each track its own side.
