About this release
Never Give Up / You Stole My Heart pairs two early-1990s UK street soul recordings, each accompanied by an alternate version. Elaine Vassell's Never Give Up combines a breakbeat rhythm with synthesizer lines and a vocal performance recorded by the North West London team of Longsy D, Pinky and Murray. The B-side turns to 3rd Zone, with Sansel Ali and brothers Mark and Stephen Anglin connecting sung passages, M1 keyboard figures and a hip house rap. Heels & Souls' reissue adds the beatless Chill Zone Mix and a tougher You Stole My Heart remix, with all four tracks remastered from the original DATs by Justin Drake.
