About this release
Etta James’ At Last! brings blues, rhythm and blues, soul and jazz standards together on her debut album. First released by Argo in 1960 and produced by Phil and Leonard Chess, it pairs the title ballad with ‘My Dearest Darling’, ‘All I Could Do Was Cry’ and ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You’.
James moves from the measured phrasing of ‘Trust In Me’ and ‘Stormy Weather’ to the drive of ‘Tough Mary’. This DOL vinyl reissue expands the original ten-track album with six bonus recordings, including ‘Spoonful’, ‘Pushover’ and ‘Next Door To The Blues’, making sixteen tracks in total.
