About this release
Fir-Ya, the backing band for soul singer George Perkins, pair Crying In Iran with Keep On Tryin' on Star-Glow Records. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana imprint originally issued these independent soul recordings, bringing a socially conscious song together with an uplifting dancefloor track. Crying In Iran carries the more reflective theme on the first side; Keep On Tryin' supplies the encouraging vocal and groove on the reverse. The seven-inch reissue returns the original pairing to vinyl, placing the band's soul sound alongside the rhythmic appeal that has drawn modern soul and disco listeners to Keep On Tryin'.
