Heels & Souls brings two Gold In The Shade recordings together, with Robert Roper behind the production and Arletta Davis and Sonia Johnson on vocals. 'Over You' and the trio’s 1990 debut 'Shining Through' capture the bass weight, rough breaks and emotional directness of London street soul. 'Shining Through' was remastered from DAT by Cicely Balston, while 'Over You' required a clean original copy, restored by Sean P after a lengthy search. Each song appears in two versions on this licensed 12-inch, preserving the texture of recordings made within a resourceful, independent scene.
