About this release
Wish Someone Would Care is Irma Thomas’s debut album, originally released by Imperial in 1964. Produced by Eddie Ray and arranged by H.B. Barnum, it brings together soul ballads, gospel-informed performances and the rhythmic feel of New Orleans R&B. The title song opens the record, with Please Send Me Someone To Love and Without Love among the first side’s highlights. Time Is On My Side begins the reverse, which closes with Break-A-Way, the original B-side to the title single. This Kent reissue is pressed on 180g vinyl and includes an interview with Thomas by Garth Cartwright.
